Education
Mr. Messersmith received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and earned his J.D. at the John Marshall Law School.
Memberships
Mr. Messersmith is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the American Bar Association (ABA). AILA refers potential clients with immigration issues to The Messersmith Law Firm through the AILA Immigration Lawyer Referral Service.
Previous Experience
Before opening The Messersmith Law Firm, Mr. Messersmith gained extensive practical experience clerking for the Honorable Dorothy Kirie Kinnaird, the Presiding Judge of the Chancery Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County as an extern as well as clerking for the Honorable Timothy C. Evans, the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County as an intern.
Ren Jie
Mrs. Ren works as a paralegal and translator. She received her Bachelor’s degree at the China University of Political Science and Law and earned a Master of Laws degree from the John Marshall Law School. She is native speaker of Chinese.

Our office is located at 230 E Ohio Street in downtown Chicago. Since our office is just north of the Loop, we can be reached by any means of public transportation.
