J1 Waiver for a Medical Student

I'm a medical student on a J1 visa.  I heard that I can apply for a no objection waiver.  Is this true?

No, the law specifically prohibits medical doctors who held J1 visa status to obtain graduate medical training from obtaining a J1 waiver based on a no objection statement from their home country. However, all other avenues of obtaining a waiver are open to you.
