Immigration Q&A - May 01, 2011 H1B Visa Cap QuestionI am currently looking to seek a H1-B visa and am close to securing a sponsor for this through a contact I have in the United States. Should this be confirmed in the next few weeks I will be looking for an attorney and found your details on the website. Could you please advise on when you expect the quota for H1-B Visas will likely be filled up for this year? It is my understanding that the quota opened on April 1st and normally fills up quite quickly so I appreciate time is of the essence to get the sponsorship confirmed. The H1B cap does open on the first of April every year. However, the numbers are consumed at a different pace each year. As of today, there are approximately 40,000 visas remaining out of a total of 65,000. We expect H1Bs to remain available until the end of 2011. |
